Heat treatment should provide the required strength while retaining adequate impact toughness. Machining must control wall thickness, transition radii, thread form, and seal-groove geometry. Smooth transitions and suitable surface finish reduce fatigue stress concentration.
Inspection and Use
Nondestructive examination, hydrostatic testing, dimensional inspection, and traceability records are important before shipment. In service, operators should avoid hammer impact on pressure parts, prevent thread galling, and replace worn seals and bearing components on schedule.
A well-controlled process route can significantly extend swivel joint life and improve reliability in cementing, fracturing, acidizing, and high-pressure flowline applications.
