Swivel Joint

Swivel joints are used for high-pressure flowline direction changes in cementing, fracturing, acidizing and well testing. Sizes cover 2 in to 4 in, with working pressures from 6,000 psi (42 MPa) to 20,000 psi (140 MPa). Styles 10 to 100 are available, mainly with M×M, F×M and F×F end-connection combinations, for standard and NACE sour service, with matching repair kits.

1. Product Overview

A swivel joint is a high-pressure flowline connector used in cementing, fracturing, acidizing, and well-test lines. It is mainly used to change line direction and improve the flexibility and installation efficiency of high-pressure manifold layouts.

The product uses a ball-bearing swivel structure for smooth rotation within the rated pressure range and is suitable for high-pressure discharge lines, inlet lines, temporary flowlines, and other high-pressure transfer systems.

The long-radius design provides a smooth bore, reducing flow resistance at bends and minimizing erosion wear. For limited installation space or specific low-pressure service, short-radius configurations can also be selected according to site requirements.

The company supplies 2 in to 4 in products rated from 6,000 psi to 20,000 psi for standard and sour-service conditions, with standard and H₂S service long-radius repair kits available.

2. Design Features

Technical parameters and performance are designed and manufactured according to relevant API 6A requirements. Product Specification Level is PSL 3 and Performance Requirement is PR 2. The product can be used with compatible pup joint connectors.

The body is forged from high-strength alloy structural steel. After heat treatment, it provides good pressure-bearing strength, impact resistance, and wear resistance for long-term use in high-pressure oilfield operations.

The 90-degree configuration with hammer union connections offers flexible installation and enables quick tightening, dismantling, transportation, and field storage.

The long-radius series uses a three-row raceway design to withstand higher radial loads and maintain stable rotation under high-pressure transfer and line-vibration conditions.

Connection dimensions match common interfaces used on cementing and fracturing equipment, making flowline selection, replacement, and maintenance easier.

Uniform wall thickness and a smooth flow path help reduce flow resistance, minimize erosion at bends, and extend service life.

HNBR seals combined with a multi-seal structure meet common sealing requirements for pup joint systems.

The metal bleed-off ring and pressure-relief hole design can release pressure in the event of abnormal sealing, reducing pressure build-up in the raceway cavity and improving field safety.

Routine maintenance mainly consists of lubrication and condition inspection, supporting quick field servicing and stable continuous operation.

1. 90-degree swivel joints are available in Style 10, Style 20, Style 30, Style 50, Style 60, Style 80, and Style 100 configurations. Connection combinations include M×M, F×M, and F×F. Common model and connection combinations include Style 10 (M×M), Style 10 (F×M), Style 20 (F×M), Style 30 (F×M), Style 50 (F×M), Style 50 (F×F), Style 60 (M×M), Style 80 (F×M), Style 100 (F×M), and Style 100 (M×M).

4. Operation and Maintenance Notes

Before use, check the nameplate pressure rating, size, temperature range, and connection type to ensure they match the field service conditions.

Before installation, inspect the connection areas, seals, and swivel mechanism, replenish grease, and confirm smooth rotation without sticking.

Do not dismantle, tighten, or replace seals while the system is under pressure. Never operate beyond the rated working pressure or temperature range.

During service, regularly inspect wall thickness, sealing condition, and rotating parts. Replace the product promptly if wear, deformation, leakage, or sticking is found.

Avoid impact, rain exposure, and corrosive media during transportation and storage. Keep the product in a dry, ventilated area.
