Hammer unions, also known as wing unions, are used for quick make-up and break-out of high-pressure flowlines. Sizes cover 1 in to 5 in, with working pressures from 1,000 psi (7 MPa) to 20,000 psi (140 MPa). Threaded, butt-weld, TBG-end and NACE sour-service types are available, with clear Fig ratings for matching swivel joints, pup joints and manifold systems.
1. Product Overview
Hammer unions are used for service-line connections in cementing, fracturing, acidizing, testing, plugging, kill lines, high-pressure manifolds, and truck-mounted systems.
High-pressure hammer unions include threaded unions and weld unions. Specifications cover 1 in to 5 in, with cold working pressure from 1,000 psi (7 MPa) to 20,000 psi (140 MPa).
Products have clear connection type and pressure-rating markings for field identification and safe matching.
H₂S service hammer unions are suitable for sour-service environments and are manufactured according to relevant NACE MR0175 requirements.
2. Design Features
Hammer unions use precision machining for spherical and 90-degree conical sealing faces, providing high pressure-bearing strength and reliable sealing.
Critical threads such as LP and TBG threads are machined by CNC equipment with special cutting tools, providing high accuracy suitable for high-pressure sealing.
The seal ring improves sealing performance after mating with the connector and reduces corrosion at the connection area.
Products have API 6A and API 16C certifications and can meet matching requirements for high-pressure flow-control equipment.
3. Installation and Maintenance Notes
Before installation, inspect internal and external threads, sealing faces, and seal-ring condition. Make up the connection only after confirming there is no damage, cross-threading, or foreign matter.
Clean the threads and apply suitable thread compound before connection. Tighten according to field operating procedures and avoid hammering that may damage threads, connection features, or sealing faces.
After use, clean, inspect, and store products by category to prevent seal aging, thread damage, and corrosion from affecting reuse.
