1. Product Overview
API Spec 6A Adapter Flanges provide pressure-containing connections for wellhead equipment, valves and high-pressure manifolds.
The overall stated range is 2 1/16 in to 5 1/8 in and 3,000 psi (21 MPa) to 20,000 psi (138 MPa). The table below is a selected weld-neck model matrix, not the complete range; hammer-union-to-flange adapters are separate configurations.
Standard-, low-temperature- and sour-service material configurations are available. For sour service, materials are selected for the stated environment in accordance with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156. Selection is based on nominal size, rated working pressure and mating interface.
2. Design Features
Manufactured to the applicable dimensional, material and testing requirements of API Spec 6A when specified. This conformance statement does not imply API Monogram eligibility outside the licensed product scope shown on the Certificates page.
The flange is machined from an alloy-steel forging and heat-treated to the specified mechanical-property requirements for rated pressure-containing service.
Sealing grooves are machined by CNC equipment with high dimensional accuracy, helping improve connection sealing reliability.
The material class, PSL, temperature class and sour-service requirements must be stated for the ordered configuration; Material Class EE is available only when supported by the applicable product documentation.
