High-Pressure Flowline Manifold Systems

Choke Manifold

Choke manifolds are API 16C pressure-control manifolds for kick control, casing pressure regulation, soft shut-in and bleed-off. Common working pressures are 5,000 psi (35 MPa), 10,000 psi (70 MPa) and 15,000 psi (105 MPa), with 2 1/16 in to 4 1/16 in nominal bore. Valve layout, control mode and end connections can be configured for standard and NACE service.

1. Product Overview

The choke manifold is important equipment for controlling kicks and performing oil and gas well pressure control. After closing the wellhead blowout preventer, casing pressure can be controlled by adjusting the choke valve opening while maintaining bottom-hole pressure balance.

The product can be used in well-control processes such as soft shut-in, flowback pressure relief, replacement of contaminated drilling fluid, and restoration of bottom-hole pressure control.

The choke manifold can be equipped with a control console for remote control and can be specially designed and manufactured according to wellsite pressure rating, connection form, and process requirements.

2. Design Features

The dual-choke-line arrangement allows switching to the other line for continued operation when one choke valve is under maintenance.

Controlling casing pressure and standpipe pressure through the choke valve helps stabilize bottom-hole pressure and reduce overflow risk.

Flowback operations can be quickly performed through valve switching, helping protect the wellhead and surface equipment.

Products are designed according to relevant API 16C and NACE MR0175 requirements and are suitable for standard and sour service.
